The FAQs
Where are you based?
I currently live in Dogtown in St. Louis Missouri, but am always willing to travel to wherever you are- let's chat!
How long have you been doing this?
I have been pursuing photography since 2016!
How many photos do we get?
I try to customize my packages to my clients needs, and since the majority of time with photography is spent in processing & editing- my packages reflect that. While I have many packages available, and we can customize to your liking- to give an idea for a 1 hr session would come with 10 images of your choosing (delivered in all in color & in black and white- so 20 total), and then additional images at a $15 cost, or the whole album of your entire session for $350. Other packages reflect similar ratios and costs.
How do we get our photos?
I message my clients personally a few sneak peak images soon after your session (in addition to your package of your choice images) so you can see the vision of how your session turned out. Then after you chose your images, allow for processing time, then your our high resolution images will be available for download in an online gallery for up to one year.
What's your turn around time?
My average is 2 weeks, but my promised is 4.
I try to send sneak peak photos as soon as possible, but generally within a week of shooting. Then allow me time to cull through all the ones that didn't turn out well for whatever reason, so you can choose your album. After you choose your album, please allow come time for me to edit all of your images to Maristella by M standard.
I know you want your photos in hand quickly, and I try to underpromise and overdeliver. Editing is an art and I want your images to be perfect.
How do I print my photos?
I so encourage you to print your photos! They're meant to be fully enjoyed, not just to sit on a screen.
While your images come with a print release, and I can point you in a direction that could fit your needs- I can't guarantee print quality from outside locations.
But, I do have a lab that I work with that will guarantee you beautiful heirloom artwork to last a lifetime that I recommend.
Should we do an outdoor session or in home session?
That's entirely up to you, although I'm happy to help with ideas. I think mixing it up is always fun. I would love to come to your home and photograph y'all reading books, baking cookies, jumping on the bed, etc- or we can go to your backyard and play & explore. Outdoors wise- St. Louis is also chalk full of beautiful locations.
You truly can't go wrong!
Ok, this all sounds great- but what if I am super awkward in front of the camera?
Ok- SAME. But aren't we all just a lil bit? I promise I won't just throw you in the deep end and say swim. We will find the perfect spot & I will give you direction while leaving space for your personalities to shine.
What if the weather doesn't cooperate?
If there's one thing about St. Louis you can count on is that you can't count on the weather. Sadly, if it does blizzard, downpour/lighting, or tornado outside we will reschedule for another day. If the clouds are out though- that is no worries! I assure you I can make your images still look beautiful. I generally recommend booking outside images around golden hour to get the most gorgeous light possible.
I'm worried my kids won't cooperate Michaela!
Don't you worry! Your little ones will run the show, and it's in everyones best interests not to fight against but to embrace them and their needs. I am not a stickler on session time, and if we need to take a break then that is not included. Play with them, let them run and get their wiggles out- it's all okay! We will absolutely get smiling at the camera photos, but my focus will be interaction and genuine authenticity with your family.
Can I bring my dog?
Hard yes.
But actually, you are totally welcome to! I have a cavalier mix named Daisy who is near and dear to my heart - and would envision her in my personal photos!
